Starcraft II Massive Thor V2 Like

by: tend2it Follow

Rising like a phoenix from fallen implosion ... rebuilt to stand w/o any supports (V1 used lego supports ... V2 uses reinforced bonding between the body and legs to support its own weight ! ... amazing considering this sucker weighs a ton. Now I need to find a display case to fit it now.

Neodymium Magnetic Balls (@~4305) - Starcraft II's Massive Thor V2

This is my most complex and largest build to date ... made with NEOBALLS / ZEN MAGNETS

V2 changes:

V2 added a lot more structural reinforcement to allow the whole thing to support its own weight by distributing bonding between the main body and legs.

V2 changes include removing the top hexagon layer from the top of the legs to create a closer bond to the main body. Also removed one layer from the arm shoulder bonds to the body to make the arms line up with the red side leg accents perfectly and create an arm support bond to the legs/body.

The V2 removed layers were used to make the rear guns shelf support to bond the guns to the body/legs.

Then V2 additional ball support was added to bond the leg and arm joints/junctions to make them more stronger. Also added stabilizers to the rear food toes and mounted the entire model to a metal plate to ensure no movement.

Overall ... I was very happy with the result ... hope I captured enough detail to warrant some visual recognition as a Starcraft II Thor reproduction/interpretation.

This was design and built for the Zen Magnets Contest 26: The Massive Thor

It was a great re-creation before and now you've just perfected it. Good job figuring out the support system while not losing any detail in those areas. Not to mention your lighting is much better now. All in all an awesome build.
